Course Details

• This course looks at the rationale behind the irrigation of root canals and some common methods and materials used.
• You will be presented with a short video followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download. 
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course aims to broaden the knowledge around the rationale of using an irrigant.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

• Describe the common endodontic irrigants.
• Select the appropriate irrigation regime for different endodontic cases.
• Define the ideal properties of an endodontic irrigant.
• Discuss the benefits of different irrigants.
• Discuss the precautions required when using irrigants.
• Explain the advantages and disadvantages of a passive and active irrigation.

• How effective irrigation influences patient outcomes.
• The ideal properties of an endodontic irrigant.
• How to safely use endodontic needles.
