Course Details

  • This course takes an in-depth look at design concepts for both complete dentures and removable partial dentures. Why prescribing dentures tailored to individual patients and their clinical needs is critical to the success of a denture in function, is discussed.
  • You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
  • If you achieve a score of 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a certificate to place in your CPD folder. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident to do so. 

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of design concepts for both complete and removable partial dentures, and why dentures tailored to individual patients and their clinical needs is critical to the success of a denture in function.

Objectives

During the course learners will be able to:

  • Understand that critical to the success of a denture in function, is the need to prescribe dentures tailored to individual patients and their clinical needs.
  • Discuss factors relating to decision making for the provision of acrylic and metal-based dentures.
  • Discuss concepts to design dentures and their prescription for constructing bespoke prostheses.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

  • How prescribing dentures tailored to individual patients and their clinical needs, is critical to the success of a denture in function.
  • How to determine and apply appropriate judgement to select metal-based or acrylic denture provision.
  • How to prescribe and communicate instructions for the construction of clinically appropriate prostheses.
