Course Details

• This course takes a look at the practice of sleep medicine for Dental Hygienists and Therapists.
• You will be presented with a short video followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course aims to provide Dental Hygienists and Therapists information relating to their invaluable role in the practice of dental sleep medicine.

Objectives

During this module learners will be able to:

• Become proficient in the use of sleep breating disorder screening tools.
• Detail clinical signs that may be suggestive of a sleep breathing disorder.
• Understand the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will gain an understanding of:

• The pivotal role of Dental Hygienists and Therapists in dental sleep medicine.
• The limitations of their scope of practice in the management of patients with sleep disordered breathing.
