Course Details

  • Level 1 Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults is suitable for non-clinical staff.
  • This course looks at the signs of neglect, abuse and harm and provides learners with an understanding of the potential effects on children, vulnerable adults, and their families.
  • You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
  • If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a certificate. 
  • If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident.

         

Aims

This course aims to ensure dental professionals understand how to recognise the signs of neglect, abuse, or harm.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

  • Define what is meant by children or adults at risk
  • Consider who might be at risk of abuse and who might be an abuser
  • Understand the term 'Looked After Child'
  • Recognise the signs of neglect, harm, and abuse
  • Discuss the detrimental effects neglect, harm, and abuse can have on a child's normal development

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

  • Who might be abused, or who might be an abuser
  • The term 'Looked After Child'
  • The signs of neglect, harm, and abuse
