Course Details

This course is designed to assist individuals in the interpretation of regulations and enable a better understanding of their responsibilities that relate to the delivery of clinical services and units of dental activity (UDA).
It is well recognised that there are 'grey areas' of ambiguity within the NHS regulations, this guidance aims to clarify any concerns that may be present to ensure that clinicians have a better understanding and a consistent approach to claiming. 

This course is intended to be utilised as a guide.

  • You will be presented with a coursebook followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
  • Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
  • If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

The aim of the course is to help develop the understanding of NHS contracts and regulations in respect to claiming. 

Objectives

Duirng this course learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate confidence and consistency when submitting NHS dental claims.
  • Identify how area teams and health boards might monitor contracts.
  • Explain the criteria for submitting valid NHS dental claims.

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

  • NHS regulations.
  • NHS contract types.
  • Specific quality indicators measured for contract monitoring.
  • The required criteria to apply for a valid regulation 11 claim.
  • Courses of treatment that are exempt from charge.
  • Ethical responsibilities outlined in 'Standards for the Dental Team'.
