Course Details

Aims

This course aims to discuss the various implant materials, the different abutments available, and the fundamental difference between tissue level and bone level implants.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

  • Describe the characteristics of implants and explain how implant surfaces affect osseointegration.
  • Select appropriate implant surfaces depending on the patient factors.
  • Decide when to use custom abutments over stock abutments.

  • The methods of retaining an implant crown.
  • The advantage of screw-retained over cement-retained implant crowns.
  • Appropriate abutment design.
  • How the surface property of an implant affects osseointegration.
