Course Details
- This course takes an in-depth look at the common, uncommon and sometimes quirky unexpected complications of IV sedation, so that everyone can recognise, be prepared and manage these effectively. This course will satisfy the IACSH and STAC requirements for medical emergencies for anyone involved in the care of sedated patients.
- You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
- If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident.
Aims
This course aims to provide dental professionals with an understanding of the common, uncommon and sometimes quirky unexpected complications of IV sedation, so that everyone can recognise, be prepared and manage these effectively.
This course will satisfy the IACSH and STAC requirements for medical emergencies for anyone involved in the care of sedated patients.
Objectives
During this course learners will be able to:
- Gain additional knowledge over and above Basic Life Support training.
- Understand the management of sedation complications both common and rare
- Have the confidence to manage the vast majority of incidents during and after sedation.

- How to teach the entire dental team, dentists, dental durses and dental management about sedation complications both common and rare.
- Additional knowledge over and above Basic Life Support training.
