- This course highlights the background to and nature of professional ethics.
- You will be presented with a coursebook followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
- Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
- If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.
Aims
This course aims to enable learners to understand the background to and nature of professional ethics.
Objectives
During this course learners will be able to:
- Define the origins of ethical standards in healthcare.
- Consider ways of working as a team in the patients' best interests.
- Understand the roles of professional bodies with responsibility for protecting patients' interests.
- Use the GDC standards for making practical and ethical decisions.
- Set ethical standards of behaviour within a team.
- Identify links between CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE) and ethical behaviour.

After completion of this module the learner will gain an understanding of:
- The background and nature of professional ethics.
- How to make sound ethical choices under challenging circumstances.
- Legal and moral codes that make up the framework of society.
