Course Details

  • You will be presented with a coursebook followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
  • Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download. 
  • If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course aims to provide information about the importance of fire safety, relevant legislation, and how to react if you discover a fire.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

  • Recognise the characteristics of fire, smoke, and toxic fumes.
  • Understand fire hazards in the working environment.
  • Detail the significant findings of fire risk assessments.
  • Discuss how to practice and promote fire prevention.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

  • Fire safety protocols including staff responsibilities during a fire incident.
  • How to activate fire alarms and actions to take on hearing the fire alarm.
  • The correct actions to take if a fire breaks out or smoke is detected.
  • The different types of fire extinguishers, their use and the safety precautions associated with their use.
  • The importance of being familiar with evacuation procedures and escape routes.
