Environmental Maintenance and Cleaning

Course Details

• This course covers the importance of environmental cleaning and maintenance in a dental practice.
• You will be presented with a short video followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download. 
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

This course will provide learners with an understanding of the maintenance of a clean environment in a dental surgery.

Objectives

During this course learners will:

• Understand the importance of high standards of environmental cleanliness and hygiene.
• Understand what the term environment refers to in a dental practice.
• Understand the potential sources of cross-infection in a dental practice environment.
• Understand tthe raining requirements for environmental cleaning.

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:

• The National Patient Safety Agency colour coding scheme.
• The importance of public assurance with regards to a dental practice environment.
• The primary causes of cross-infection within an environment.
• The importance of practice specific protocol for environmental cleaning.
• The requirements for environmental cleaning between patients.
• The importance of the correct storage of environmental cleaning equipment.
