Aims
The aim of this course is to explain the roles and responsibilities of the Duty Holder with respect to the water safety and hygiene of all water sources and uses within the dental practice.
All water provision is accountable under the Duty Holder. Each dental practice is different, and a "one size fits all" approach to water hygiene is not appropriate, or compliant.
Objectives
During this module learners will be able to:
- Define the role of Duty Holder with respect to Legionella legislation.
- Define the responsibilities of Duty Holder in relation to water hygiene.
- Create an appropriate water management team.
- Access relevant documents.

On completion of this course the learner will gain an understanding of:
- The relevant legislation and guidance with respect to water safety.
- How to manage water safety.
- Where water hygiene is an issue.
- Who the appropriate person is to undertake a Legionella risk assessment.
