Course Details
- This course will teach learners how to comply with the blood-borne viruses training requirement of HTM 01-05.
- You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
- Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a downloadable certificate.
- If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.
Aims
This course will teach learners how to comply with the blood-borne viruses training requirement of HTM 01-05.
Objectives
Learners will:
- Be able to define what a blood-borne virus is.
- Understand blood-borne virus transmission.
- Understand how PPE can help prevent infection from BBVs.
- Understand why immunizations are required.
- Know how to handle a sharps injury effectively.

- What is meant by the term BBV.
- The commonest BBVs of concern.
- The methods of virus transmission.
- What type of PPE is required to help prevent the transmission of BBVs.
- The effectiveness of immunizations.
- The steps necessary to manage a sharps injury.
