- This course takes an in-depth look at the way the dental industry operates and the type of patient that many dentists feel pressured to treat. It discusses whether new patients with large irreversible modalities be treated when vast numbers of lifetime patients experience slow dental occlusal/aesthetic breakdown, that often goes unnoticed.

Aims
This course aims to provide dental professionals with an in-depth look at the way the dental industry operates and the type of patient that many dentists feel pressured to treat. Objectives
Learners will be able to:

- Compare the risks of treating new patients with fancy cosmetic treatments versus known educated patients with functional driven aesthetic treatments.
- Evaluate cases treated over 20 years and the approach taken which focuses on prevention of wear, maintenance of function, aesthetics and tooth position compared to untreated cases
- Understand employing a heavy marketing approach to new patients versus a more, steady educational approach to known patients.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:
- The importance of treating patients over their lifetime, have a basic understanding of the Dahl Principle when and when not to use.
- Tooth-wear and functional changes due to tooth movement and employ digital analysis in treatment planning and case acceptance.
- Tooth alignment, and bonding as a comprehensive approach to offering patients improved aesthetic and functional outcomes.
- The importance of retention maintenance far beyond just short orthodontic treatment.
