Course Details

• This course takes an in-depth look at oral cancer and the various conditions which can present in the mouth and perioral tissues.
• You will be presented with a coursebook followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment.

Aims

In dental practice carrying out a comprehensive extra and intra-oral examination is of utmost importance. This course aims to provide an in-depth look at the anatomy, pathology, and the differential diagnosis of oral cancer as well as discussing the various conditions that can present in the mouth and perioral tissues.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

• Understand the types of oral cancer and the conditions that present in the mouth and perioral tissues.
• Explain the importance of early detection of mouth cancer. 
• Understand the histological effects of epithelial dysplasia and visual appearance of these changes. 
• Outline the difference between benign and malignant oral tumours.
