Course Details

• This course explores the theory and practice of using apex locators to establish an accurate working length in endodontic treatment.
• You will be presented with a short video followed by an assessment with options for feedback and reflection.
• Once you have achieved a mark of 80% or more, you will be presented with a certificate to download.
• If you do not pass you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment. 

Aims

This course aims to enhance the knowledge and practical application of the use of apex locators to enable high-quality endodontic treatments to be achieved.

Objectives

During this course learners will be able to:

• Describe the development history of modern electronic apex locators.
• Explain the anatomic landmarks of the tooth apex.
• Select the appropriate endodontic file when using an apex locator.
• Discuss the benefits of different methods of determining the working length.
• Discuss issues that can arise when using apex locators.
• Explain how to establish a predictable working length from the information provided by an apex locator.
