Course Details
- This course takes an in-depth look at how disability can impact the provision of oral health care and treatment. Dental care professionals who have disabilities or care for family members with disabilities also discuss some of the barriers they faced in performing their duties.
- You will be presented with a short presentation followed by an assessment.
- If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate to place in your CPD folder. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident.
Aims
This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of how disability can impact the provision of oral health care and treatment.
Objectives
During this course learners will be able to:
- Explain biomedical/social models of disability and learning difficulty.
- Outline regulation in relation to the disability act.
- Provide information about managing autism and learning disabilities.

After completing this course the learner will gain an understanding of:
- The challenges of treating patients with disabilities including autism and learning disabilities.
- The challenges for dental professionals with a disability face while treating patients.
